Times were getting tougher for everyone and I needed to do as much as I could to keep food on the table. I already had a garden, but given the struggle that I knew was coming, we decided to add a few more rows.
I was a vegetarian for five years before I met my husband. He, on the other hand, enjoys meat. So I invested in a flock of chickens. I let him decide which ones were to be dinner, handed him the knife, and now he's a part time vegetarian. (giggle)
Our 'farm' has grown from just a small veggie garden to a large garden with chickens, ducks, turkeys and even an oyster mushroom patch.
Our future plans involve dairy animals, quail, and possibly an orchard.
We all enjoy every moment that we are together. Why would we want it any other way?
